Course Description: The focus of this seminar is to present an overview of the post-Freudian theory of self-psychology. The course examines the development of this theory from classical and its relationship to object relations and intersubjective perspectives. The course will also cover key concepts developed by Heinz Kohut, such as the role of self-object in human relationships and the development and origins of psychopathology. The curative process of therapeutic action, including empathy, self-object transferences, rupture, and repair processes, will also be discussed.
