Course Description: Psychoanalysis as a cultural enterprise evolved from social, ideological, and organizational structures that promoted dogmatism and totalitarianism in Europe. The world we live in today is not that different from that time, if not much worse. Our task in this course is to study whether psychoanalysis is an emancipatory praxis and a system of thought that can operate impervious to our world and whether psychoanalysis can save us from turning ourselves into fascist characters.
